Chapter 36: The Fish Has Taken the Bait
After filming ended, Director Hu even had someone retrieve the footage from the only surveillance camera near the set.
Unfortunately, Ling Xiaoli’s position was outside the camera’s range.
Ling Xiaoli leaned against Luo Zhaoyin’s chest, pretending to sob pitifully, while thinking:
I deliberately chose a spot without surveillance. Otherwise, what if no one dared to make a move?
Director Hu wasn’t a police officer. His authority was limited to the filming set. If someone in the production crew had really done this, he wouldn’t be able to force a confession out of them.
Moreover, several other production crews were filming nearby, so they couldn’t even determine whether the culprit belonged to their own crew.
Since calling the police during filming would have a negative impact, Ling Xiaoli wisely refrained from doing so without anyone having to tell her.
Everyone offered words of comfort. Some also suggested that she hurry back and organize another copy of the song, then register the copyright first.
After thanking everyone, Ling Xiaoli returned to the hotel with Luo Zhaoyin.
Room 1330.
“A-Yin, can I trust you?”
Ling Xiaoli dropped her sorrowful act and spoke to Luo Zhaoyin seriously.
Luo Zhaoyin was stunned, then replied earnestly:
“What do you need me to do? As long as it doesn’t involve matters of principle, you can trust me.”
“I need you not to post anything on Weibo later, no matter what happens. Stay silent and wait for the final reversal.”
“What’s going to happen? What reversal? What’s going on?”
Luo Zhaoyin looked puzzled.
“A-Yin, give me a little time. After everything is over, I’ll tell you the whole story. But for now, can you listen to me?”
Although Luo Zhaoyin was completely confused, she could more or less tell that there was another reason behind the disappearance of the song that night.
Regardless, after spending the past few days together, she was willing to trust her new friend.
Sometimes, relationships between people really did depend on fate. Knowing someone for more than a decade might not bring them as close as meeting someone just once.
Luo Zhaoyin and Ling Xiaoli were the latter.
Thus, Luo Zhaoyin nodded solemnly.
“I can!”
Ling Xiaoli was deeply moved. She threw her arms around Luo Zhaoyin.
Her own Little Cutie’s personality was simply amazing. How could anyone not love her?
Once she finished dealing with the matters at hand, she would give her Little Cutie a crash course in romantic knowledge—and then find the male lead to help speed up the development of this beautiful relationship!
……
By this point, only Ling Xiaoli remained in Room 1330.
As expected, the events from the original story had repeated themselves, even though the person and the song had changed.
But most likely, the person causing trouble hadn’t changed.
It was still Su Xuan.
Ling Xiaoli first opened the surveillance software on her computer and watched the person who had tampered with it.
Unfortunately, Su Xuan was clever enough. The person captured on the footage was neither Su Xuan nor anyone directly connected to her.
The person was dressed entirely in black. None of the people beside Su Xuan that day had been wearing black, so it might have been a staff member.
Furthermore, because of the camera angle, the person’s entire face hadn’t been captured. Only half of their lips, their chin, and their hands were visible.
But that was already sufficient evidence.
After exporting the video, Ling Xiaoli opened the Maoya livestream website.
She had deliberately stalled at the set for so long. By now, the livestreamer who had received the mysterious gift should have registered the copyright and learned the song, right?
Ten minutes later, things happened even faster than she had expected.
—[Tonight We Drink Until We Drop sent 1 Super Rocket to Little Yuanyuan’s livestream!]
—[Who’s Right and Who’s Wrong sent 10 Super Rockets to Little Yuanyuan’s livestream!]
Little Yuanyuan?
Ling Xiaoli clicked into the livestream, and the first thing she saw was a pink-haired woman.
It was Yuan Yuan.
What a small world.
On camera, Yuan Yuan sang with complete concentration. It had to be admitted that her singing ability was much better than the original owner’s, and the sound engineer was quite capable too. The livestream effect was excellent.
Although the song sounded strange compared with the original version, to the people of this world, it was undoubtedly a powerful shock.
After all, it was the very same Prophecy she had obtained from Ling Xiaoli.
Yuan Yuan had merely changed the title of her version to Na Na Na.
She had also altered several notes that sounded perfectly fine at first listen, but felt strangely off when heard carefully.
Listening to the vaguely familiar yet unfamiliar Prophecy, Ling Xiaoli smiled brightly.
Na Na Na—the fish has taken the bait.
