Chapter 10: The Livestream Officially Begins
The next day, Ling Xiaoli woke up to the glaring sunlight.
Although she had not gotten nearly enough sleep, she knew there were many things she needed to do today and had no time to linger in bed.
As usual, she picked up her phone first thing. Then she saw one hundred thousand WeChat messages!
Most of them had been sent at midnight. With a swipe of her finger, she scrolled all the way to the bottom and began reading upward.
—Keke: Happy New Year! [Cheering.jpg]
—A-Wei: Xiaoli, Happy New Year!
…
—Zhou Yan: Ali, Happy New Year. I miss you so much. Can you let me see you?
…
—Sister Wang: Happy New Year.
Ling Xiaoli read through the messages one by one. Apart from a few strange ones—like that Zhou Yan fellow, whom she would set aside for now—there was nothing unusual.
Wang Yun’s message was the most recent. She had sent it that morning.
After replying to everything in a chaotic fashion, Ling Xiaoli finally realized that today was New Year’s Day.
Right. Last night’s performance had been Maoya Livestream’s New Year’s Eve Gala.
Before she transmigrated, it had still been summer. In the blink of an eye, winter had arrived.
How terrifying.
Ling Xiaoli sighed, put down her phone, and prepared to face everything the day had in store.
First of all, she had to clean!
No matter how miserable the original owner’s life had been, there was no excuse for the mess and filth!
…
By now, Ling Xiaoli was sprawled weakly across the sofa, every limb aching. It was already four-thirty in the afternoon.
After struggling to order some takeout, she no longer wanted to move at all.
She had changed the sheets and pillowcases, organized the wardrobe, swept and mopped the floor, and taken out the trash. In the end, she had even wiped the windows!
How could a girl’s room be this dirty?
How?!
Fortunately, this was a northern city where cockroaches appeared relatively infrequently. If this had been the south—
Oh, just kill her!
While waiting for the food to arrive, Ling Xiaoli kept watching recordings of the original owner’s livestreams. At the very least, she couldn’t let people feel that she had changed too much!
What relieved her was that the original owner’s livestreaming style was fairly normal. She did not deliberately act cute. It was simply that her voice naturally had a childish, doll-like quality, so everything she said sounded adorable.
It was not until the deliveryman called that Ling Xiaoli finally managed to crawl off the sofa. She found a mask and went downstairs to collect the food.
She finished dinner in five minutes.
She spent two minutes confirming the connection time and plans with Luo Zhaoyin.
Then she took another fifteen minutes to shower, wash her face, and complete her skincare routine—but she did not put on makeup.
Since she was going to cause trouble, she might as well make it a major incident.
Appearing on camera without makeup—that was how fearless she was!
The original owner’s regular livestreaming time was six o’clock every afternoon, continuing until one in the morning.
Among influencers who were nearly at the top tier, she could be considered quite diligent.
Finally, Ling Xiaoli contacted Wang Yun and told her that she had already made up her mind and would not disappoint the company.
She merely added that she had become good friends with Luo Zhaoyin the previous day and had learned that Luo had a new song. She hoped the company would allow her to connect with Luo for promotional purposes.
Perhaps her obedient attitude had earned her some goodwill from the company. Or perhaps the company believed that connecting with Luo Zhaoyin would itself bring them profit.
Before long, Wang Yun sent back a message agreeing.
At five fifty, Ling Xiaoli sat down in front of the computer right on time.
The ring light, sound card, microphone, speakers, effects controller, and every other piece of equipment were all ready.
She began adjusting the special effects, beauty filters, and other settings, making sure they looked exactly as they usually did: cute and adorable.
Technology really was powerful nowadays.
It could even turn Daji into the original goddess of cuteness.
At exactly six o’clock, the livestream began!
Ling Xiaoli flashed a brilliant smile, showing eight teeth.
“Hello, everyone! Lili is here to meet you again! Have you all eaten yet? Oh, right—did anyone watch the Maoya Gala yesterday?”
